We research the background of the Sires and Dams, and any litters they may have produced. Only when we are satisfied that these Labradors are sound, do we breed. We believe by adhering to these high standards we are reducing the odds of producing a defective pup or litter. Therefore, we offer this guarantee providing the purchaser complies with the agreement. There will be no exceptions.
Pups whelped at Heatherdowns Labradors are guaranteed to be purebred, from Grand Champion and Champion Bloodlines, OFA Certified Parents have DNA Clearances Normal (through Pawprint Genetics), Registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC); and that the pedigree is accurate.
It is impossible to state that any given dog will be completely free of genetic imperfection. In our breeding program, we only breed animals that have completed genetic testing and are certified with an OFA breeding rating of EXCELLENT, GOOD or FAIR. Heatherdowns Labradors also completes genetic testing for EIC, CNM, PRA-PRCD, Stargardt, Cystinuria, Copper Toxicosis, Dilute Gene, Hips, Elbows, Patella, Dentition and Cardiac.
The seller guarantees the dog to be of sound health and temperament at the time of release. Heatherdowns completes Veterinarian Health Checks on all puppies 24 to 72 hours before Puppy Release. Our veterinarian performs Health Checks with an objective that includes an overall Body Score that addresses hydration, pain, vitals, general appearance, eyes, corneas, pupils, ears, integument of coat/skin, oral cavity, dentition, lymphatics, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, urogenital, urinary, respiratory and neurologic. Finally, an Assessment and Health Plan will be summarized by our veterinarian.
HEATHERDOWNS HEALTH GUARNATEE EXCLUSIONS
Heatherdowns Labradors practices prevention, and if needed, treatment of parasites, worms, coccidia, and giardia which are common problems in young puppies. These conditions can be treated and are excluded from this guarantee. We know that as parasites shed, they can reappear later as a result of stress with a new family environment after we have negative fecal checks. Trupanion Dog Insurance does cover treatment of the above conditions as long as you activate the free 1 month insurance within 24 hours of receiving puppy from Heatherdowns.
The guarantee does not apply to any disorder or situation that is non-genetic to include injury after handoff, umbilical cord hernias, entropion, non-descended testicles, large vulva hood, inverted vulva, overbites, UTI’s or microchips that have traveled.
As a result, of our Veterinarian Health Checks performed with-in 24-72 hours of release, there will be no consideration for refunds or puppy exchanges for reported injuries after handoff. Our Veterinarian Health Checks are thorough and specifically devised to determine the exact health of a puppy at the time of release.
Heatherdowns Labradors will not reimburse or pay for any Veterinary fees or expenses upon transfer of ownership.
NEW PUPPY PARENTS HEALTH GUARANTEE RESPONSIBIITY
The purchaser agrees to take the new puppy to a licensed veterinarian of choice NLT ‘Due Date of 2nd Series of Vaccinations’ as indicated on your New Puppy Health Record from HEATHERDOWNS. Heatherdowns provides Parvo Booster, NeoPar® Parvo Vaccine for Dogs 5 weeks. At 7 weeks, the 1st Vaccination Series, Nobivac Canine 1-DAPPv-CV is given for broad protection against parainfluenza, adenovirus type 1 (hepatitis), adenovirus type 2 (respiratory disease), canine distemper, parvovirus and corona. The 2nd Series of Vaccination will be due 3 weeks from puppy’s 7-week-old vaccination. Heatherdowns is on the 7, 10, 13 and 16-week vaccination schedule.
HEATHERDOWNS GUARANTEE SPECIFICS
Should the dog be determined to be in ill health, the cause of which is clearly attributable to the seller, the dog may, upon written diagnosis from said veterinarian, be returned for a refund of the purchase price or for another dog of equal value. Any veterinarian's diagnosis shall be subject to confirmation by a veterinarian chosen and paid for by the seller. Should said veterinarian not concur with the diagnosis, the matter shall be presented to a third veterinarian mutually agreed upon by the seller and the purchaser.
Unconditional Guarantee: You may return the pup in the same condition when acquired. Puppy may be returned for any reason, within THREE days from the final purchase and the price of puppy will be refunded with the exception of the initial deposit.
Congenital Disease Guarantee: If a fatal congenital disease is discovered within 1 year of purchase [breeder reserves the right to have the animal examined by a vet of choice at breeder’s expense to confirm the diagnosis.] full purchase price will be refunded, or 1st Pick of a replacement pup from your choice litter will be granted upon proof of diagnosis. You agree to provide regular veterinary care as well as proper daily maintenance to keep the dog in good health. You agree to inform me at once if problems develop and to follow all veterinary recommendations for their solution. If these things are not done, all guarantees are void. Congenital disorders that are treatable or may not require therapy/medications and will live a normal life without affecting the dog’s quality life, may receive a partial refund.

Guarantee~30 months: If your dog receives a grade of moderate or severe hip dysplasia, digital x-rays will be accepted to submit to OFA for evaluation. Full purchase price will be refunded, or 1st Pick of a replacement pup from your choice litter will be granted upon proof of diagnosis. Reasonable precautions have been taken to prevent this puppy from acquiring hereditary defects of the hips, elbows, and eyes based on completing required AKC certifications through OFA and genetic testing to include hips, elbows, patella, eyes, heart and dentition.
